Meet the Team
The people behind Insured American Family — real humans who pick up the phone.

Lourdes Gruenbaum
Founder & CEO, Insured American Family
Born in El Salvador and raised on the values of hard work and perseverance, Lourdes grew up watching her family build a new life in the United States. That upbringing shaped everything she does today. Her belief is simple: every family deserves an advocate who actually understands them, especially the ones balancing military service with everyday life.
Lourdes graduated from North Carolina State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She holds an active insurance license and is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, which lets her serve a diverse client base with real clarity, from walking a family through their first Marketplace plan to helping a small business owner make sense of group benefits. In 2016, she founded Insured American Family as a woman-owned, minority-owned, and veteran family-owned business. Married to Craig, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, for nearly a decade, she brings firsthand insight into the challenges military and veteran families face every day. What started as one stubborn idea has grown into a trusted advocate for over 1,500 families, and Lourdes is still personally involved with clients, guiding them with the same dedication that shaped the company from day one.
At home, she is a devoted wife and mother, raising four kids and two dogs alongside Craig in Valrico, Florida. Her commitment to family and service is what keeps her fired up about protecting the people she works with every day.

Craig Gruenbaum
Chief Operating Officer, Insured American Family
A proud 15-year Marine Corps veteran still active as a Gunnery Sergeant in the Reserves, Craig brings the discipline, integrity, and service ethic of the Marines into every client conversation. His path into insurance started with a simple goal: more time with his family. What began as a career pivot became a real passion for helping individuals, families, and business owners make sense of their healthcare coverage.
Craig holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a Certificate in Information Security, and spent over a decade managing operations in customer service before insurance. In 2016, he and Lourdes started Insured American Family together, built on education first, risk management, and a focus on customer service. Licensed in over 36 states across health, Medicare, Federal Marketplace, group benefits, supplemental, and life. Craig also continues to serve as Company Operations Chief and Chief Instructor for Corporal’s Course and Lance Corporal Seminar at 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion, H&S Company. Locally in Valrico, Florida, where he and Lourdes have lived for a decade, he is Vice President of his community’s HOA, Ribbon Cutting Chair for the Valrico-FishHawk Chamber of Commerce, and a five-year board member of Money Source BNI, where he currently serves as Member Relations Specialist.
At home, Craig and Lourdes are raising four children, Joshua, Isabella, Nicholas, and Jakob, alongside their two dogs, Solo and Leia. When he isn’t with clients or coaching his team of agents, he’s building Legos with the kids, tinkering with clay, playing competitive games, or singing louder than he probably should at karaoke. His driving purpose is simple: to be the best example for his kids and the best partner for his wife.

Alessia Patch
Executive Assistant
Alessia keeps operations running smoothly at Insured American Family. She’s pursuing her Associate of Arts at Hillsborough College after graduating from Durant High School with a 4.7 GPA, honors cords for academic achievement, and membership in the Math Honor Society. She’s working toward a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity and brings that same focus and discipline to every client interaction.
Our Core Values
Three values shape every conversation we have with a client. They are not lifted from a brochure. They are the values Craig was given by the Marine Corps and the values Lourdes built this agency on.
Honor
We do the right thing when no one is watching. Integrity in every recommendation, transparency in every conversation, and a straight answer when the question is hard.
Family
We treat every client like we treat our own family. We won’t sell you something we wouldn’t put our own mother on. Family-run is more than a tagline here — it’s the standard.
Commitment to Service
Service is the work, not the pitch. We pick up the phone, we follow through on the small stuff, and we stay with you through renewals, life changes, and the year-over-year work of keeping coverage right.
Our Journey: A Family Legacy

Founded by Lourdes Gruenbaum and operated by her husband Craig — an active U.S. Marine Corps Reservist with a degree in IT focused on IT Security and risk management, plus decades of customer service experience — Insured American Family was built to bring discipline, accountability, and real human service to an industry that too often runs on call-center scripts.
Ten years in, we’ve helped more than 1,500 clients across 36 states protect what matters to them — their health, their families, their businesses, and their retirements. We’ve grown by referral, by reputation, and by the only metric that actually matters: clients who stay with us year after year because we keep showing up.
We’re carrier-independent. We work with Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Humana, Mutual of Omaha, Transamerica, and UnitedHealthcare, among others. That means we shop the field on your behalf and recommend the plan that fits you — not the one that pays us more.
