Dental & Vision Coverage
Standalone dental and vision through one platform, one application, one bill. We work with carriers that let you bundle both products without forcing you into a primary health plan you don’t need.
Whether you’re losing employer dental at retirement, supplementing a high-deductible health plan, or covering kids whose ACA plan has weak pediatric dental, this is the cleanest path.
Dental coverage essentials
Annual Maximum: Industry-standard floor is $1,000–$1,500. Some “deals” advertised online have maxes as low as $500 — meaning ONE crown blows the cap. The plans we recommend have annual maxes in the $1,000–$5,000 range, with the strongest standalone options capping around $3,500–$5,000.
Coverage Tiers:
- Preventive (100% covered, no deductible): cleanings, exams, X-rays. Usually 2 cleanings/year.
- Basic (typically 80% covered, after deductible): fillings, simple extractions, root planing.
- Major (typically 50% covered, after deductible): crowns, root canals, bridges, dentures.
Cheaper plans skip the Major tier entirely. Read carefully.
Waiting Periods: Preventive: 0 months. Basic: 3–6 months. Major: 6–12 months. Plans with shorter waiting periods cost a little more but get you covered faster.
Vision coverage essentials
Vision insurance is simpler than dental. Three things matter:
- Exam Allowance: Industry standard $10–$25 copay for an in-network exam.
- Frame Allowance: $150/year toward eyeglass frames.
- Lens Coverage: Single-vision usually fully covered, copay for bifocals/progressives.
- Contacts vs Glasses: Most plans let you pick ONE per year, not both.
Carriers we work with for dental & vision
Our primary dental carrier is
Ameritas — deep provider network, strong benefits, and the smoothest enrollment flow. When Ameritas isn’t the right fit for a client’s specific network needs or budget, we also write dental with
Allstate Health Solutions,
UnitedHealthcare, and
Aetna.
We’re not carrier-exclusive — we recommend the plan that fits your dentist, budget, and coverage priorities. Ask Craig to walk through the options for your situation.
Who we typically help
- Self-employed individuals and families without employer dental/vision
- Recent retirees losing employer benefits
- Medicare beneficiaries whose Advantage plan dropped or limited dental in 2026
- Small businesses (3+ employees) looking to offer voluntary dental/vision benefits
- Parents whose ACA pediatric dental is weak
